Aerospace Multi-Axis Marking Station

Multi-Axis Marking Station for Aerospace – Precision for Critical Components

The Multi Axis Aerospace Workstation is our dot-peen marking and verification system built for high-value aerospace components with complex geometries and demanding traceability requirements.

We developed it for engine casings, discs, blisks and rings. The workstation combines precision dot-peen marking, servo-driven positioning across up to eight controlled axes, bespoke fixturing and vision-guided alignment in one controlled process, so the component is located, marked and verified without leaving the station.

  • Multi-axis marking and verification workstation for aerospace components
  • Precision dot-peen marking for permanent part identification
  • Vision-guided part alignment using component features
  • Integrated Data Matrix verification and human-readable OCR
  • Servo-driven movement across up to 8 controlled axes
  • Marks external, internal, angled and recessed faces

Engineered for Aerospace Excellence

The sophisticated architecture of modern aero engines, featuring intricately machined parts like BLISKS, turbine discs, and rings, necessitates marking solutions that can handle complex geometries with absolute accuracy. Our Aerospace Multi-Axis Marking Station is designed to address these challenges head-on, offering:

  • Unrivalled Positional Accuracy: Achieve perfect mark placement on curved, angled, or multi-dimensional surfaces, essential for parts within an aero engine where every millimetre counts.
  • Versatility for Complex Geometries: Whether it’s the intricate blading of a BLISK, the precise face of a turbine disc, or the internal and external surfaces of an engine ring, our multi-axis capabilities ensure the marking head can reach and accurately mark any specified location.
  • Robust Traceability for Critical Parts: Ensure every component, from the smallest fastener to large structural elements, carries a durable, high-quality mark for lifelong traceability, vital for safety and regulatory compliance in aerospace.

Features

Key Features Optimized for Aerospace Applications:

Software for Seamless Integration: The workstation runs on our MarkMaster 4 control software, with optional MES integration to bring production data straight into the marking process. Markmaster 4 allows for easy integration into existing manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, streamlining your traceability data management.

Durable and Reliable Construction: Built to withstand the demands of continuous operation in a production environment, ensuring consistent performance for your aerospace marking needs.

An adjustable turntable with pneumatic gripping holds the component securely, and the system is designed to allow part loading by crane, so heavier castings and forgings can be loaded without manual handling. Bespoke tooling options are available for specific component ranges, and the whole workstation is fully enclosed, with integrated safety features and soundproofing built in.

High-Resolution Marking: Deliver consistently crisp and clear marks, even on challenging materials prevalent in aerospace, ensuring optimal readability by both human operators and machine vision systems.

Built to Aerospace Marking and Verification Standards

The system supports AS9132, AIM-DPM, ISO/IEC 29158, JES131, RRES90003, RRES90005, PWA309, PWA310, P23TF3, P23TF10, AS478 and Spec 2000, alongside customer-specific marking specifications.

Our VeriSmart 4 vision system checks every Data Matrix and human-readable mark immediately after marking, so a quality issue is caught at the station rather than further down the line.
